Christianities Creation Story - Part 1 before God makes man.
Before the Creation there is a formless chaos; then God says “Let there be Light!” Over a period of six days (periods of time) God makes the world: sun, moon and stars; living creatures, first in the sea, then on dry land.

Christianities Creation Story - Part 2 after God makes man.
Finally he makes Man in his own image and breathes his spirit into him, so that Man becomes a living soul. God gives Man authority over the world, to care for it as stewards. Pleased with his work, God rests, satisfied on the seventh day.

Islamic Creation Story
Allah made heaven and earth; animals, sun, moon, stars, planets and angels. He sent angels with seven handfuls of different coloured earth. From these were made the first man, from his side, the first woman; Adam and Eve.

What did Allah make Adam and Eve?
Allah made them stewards/khalifahs, guardians of the world.

What is the scientific account?
About 16 billion years ago, an enormous explosion caused the universe to begin. This was the Big Bang. From this were formed all the galaxies, stars, planets and our earth.

How did Man occur in the scientific account?
On the Earth, by gradual process over millions of years, life began an developed from simple life forms to complex animals; the Theory of Evolution. Eventually Man evolved, with the best brain and became the dominant species.

What are two ways to interpret the Religious Creation stories?
Some take the Creation story literally. It happened as described. Some see it as a myth our ancestors told in order to explain a World they did not understand. Now we know better and our scientific theories can replace all this.

What is the third and final way to interpret the Religious Creation Stories?
Some see it as non-literal, a symbolic story; ie. that the world was not an accident; that God made everything with a purpose; that man is special, different to the animals;Big Bang and Evolution are just the processes God used.

Christians vary on this; they may see things in terms of 1,2 or 3.
