Cavour:

• born in Piedmont - 1811
• attended the Royal Military Academy
• became an officer in the army shortly after
• in 1833, Cavour visited Britain and became interested in their industry
• in 1835, he returned to Piedmont to look after the family estate, this is where he wrote on his favourite subjects and gained the idea of Bank of Turin
• in 1847, Charles Albert relaxed press censorship, allowing Cavour to display his ideas in 'Il Risorgimento'
