Fabrics and performance - Cotton
A natural plant fibre: fine, flexible and lies close together, making it cool to wear. Creases easily, strong and absorbs water easily. also washes well.

Linen
A natural plant fibre: a poor insulator, cool to wear and creases very easily. strong and absorbs water easily. Stronger when wet. washes well and dries fast. Also hardwearing.

wool
Natural animal fibre: resistant to creasing and quite elastic. this makes it comfortable to wear. It insulates well as fibres trap air between them. Also absorbent yet slightly repels water.

Silk
Natural animal fibre: cool fibres but keep you warm. Absorbent and dries well. Long and smooth fibres which give a soft finish. Does not crease easily and is very strong.
