Innate Ideas
knowledge you are born with (Trademark Argument)

Tabula Rasa
The idea that we were born with no knowledge - Blank Slate (Locke- Baby/idiot argument)

Rationalism
The belief that some knowledge is not from our senses (All triangles have three sides)

Induction
Knowledge that we gain through our experiences. (Russell - Chicken argument)

Empiricism
The view that all of our knowledge comes from our senses. ( "I know that chair in front of me is blue because i can see it" - I see a blue chair)

Deduction
Knowledge that has certainty (MATT is Taller than Lucy, LUCY is Taller than Gemma, therefore MATT is taller than BOTH Gemma and Lucy)

A Priori
Knowledge that comes PRIOR to our senses (All triangles have three sides)

A Prosteriori
Knowledge that comes from our senses (I can see a chair therefore i know that the chair is there)

Analytical statements
Statements that are true by definition (All triangles have 3 sides)

Synthetic
New knowledge that isn't analytic - important

Not necessarily true (All dogs have 4 legs - not true as a dog could have lost a leg)

Cannot be false (All triangles have 3 sides)

Simple Idea
An idea that cannot be broken down (The colour blue)

Complex Idea
Simple ideas put together (Blue Banana)

Solipsism
The idea that nothing but our minds exist.

Primary Qualities
Qualities that an object has regardless of how it's being perceived. (Include: movement, shape and size)

Secondary Qualties
Include: colour, taste and smell

Direct Realism
The belief that the world is exactly the way that it is (If we see and feel a chair we know that it's there and that it exists because of our sense data)

Representative Realism
The idea that we don't see the world, just representations of it.

This idea that there is no external world, just minds and their ideas.
