What is Globalisation?
The term which describes the way, that people and places become closely linked.

What has caused globalisation?
Globalisation is caused by people and places communicating with each other.

Give example of what has caused this.
TNC's (E.g. Mcdonalds, HSBC) shifting/moving their productions to a different country; thus creating a global connection and and trade links

What are the positive Impacts?
Promotes easier and faster trades by removing trade tarriffs and quotas.Goods from different countries are distributed, Better communication/ rapid communication

What are the negative impacts?
Led to growth of inaquality. Encourages unsustainable economic growth. Loss of cultural traditions.

Distinguish the difference between a natural hazard and a natural disaster.
A hazard is an even that is a potential threat to people/property; whereas a disaster is an event where losses are experience and causes vulnerability.

Why do people become vulnerable?
Lack of education. Poverty may force people to live in vulnerable locations. The benefits outweigh costs. People tend to underestimate their vulnerability.

Why do people remain vulnerable to hazards?
Risks are difficult to predict and therefore hard to avoid.

Why do hazards of a similar size create disasters of different sizes?
It depends on how vulnerable the people are. E.g. in LEDC they lack education and are too poor to move away.

Has global warming increased the global risk of disaster?
Yes, as it had warmed the planet, causing disasters to occur more often.

Why is global warming might be considered the world's greatest hazard?
Because it affects everyone ( it is an example of a chronic hazard).
