Clues

  • An increase in this will mean that muscles will be able to withstand more as they are progressively overloaded (8, 9)
  • Each muscle is made up of these and when they contract or pull against the skeleton and movement takes place (6, 6)
  • Muscle hypertrophy can lead to an increase in this and can also lead to an increase in power (8, 8)
  • Muscles are arranged like this so that when one contracts, the other one relaxes (12, 5)
  • Muscles are attached to the skeleton by these (7)
  • The contracting and lenthening of muscles (8)
  • These bring about movement and can be consciously controlled and trained to become stronger (9, 7)
  • These help to define body shape and maintain posture (7)
  • This is the driving force behind movement. (8, 6)
  • When using progressive overload, the muscle becomes torn. It then rebuilds itself making it slightly stronger and the muscle mass is increased (11)
