Strengths:

  • Effects can be long-lasting
  • Good if stressor is specific e.g. exams
  • Improves perceived control and self-efficacy
  • Non-Invasive

Weaknesses:

  • Time-Consuming
  • Needs high levels of commitment
  • Therapists are expensive
  • Not effective with very high levels of stressor more generalised stress
