- Manufacturing/factory jobs have declined by 51,000 in Sheffield
- Still home to a few factories, but there are other businesses calling KI home!
- In the deindustriliasation of the 1970s, 1/10 of Sheffield's workers lost their jobs, this particularly impacted Kelham, as many of the jobs were focussed here

- Previously not a residential area, is now heavily residential e.g. Little Kelham
- Has been dubbed in the media as 'gentrification' city
- Land use changes
- Prevously an entirely industrial area, is now a mix of residences, and tertiary sector industries
- The buildings are mostly mixed use e.g. apartments, bars, restaurants
- Designated a Conservation Area in 1985, to try and preserve Sheffield's historic buildings. A number of listed buildings have been turned into residences
- E.g. The Globe Works manufacturing centre is now the Globe Business Centre, home to 22 companies
- Majority of the sites in Riverside area have been approved for residential development, which is likely to occur more in the future
