- Health and Safety at Work
- What is health and safety?
- it is essential that companies have a good understanding of the legislation relating to health and safety. Ensures that not only employees, but other people affected by work activities are protected
- Why is Health and Safety important?
- Because every year, hundreds of people are killed due to work related injuries. This is important so it doesn't cause the business any trouble e.g. paying compensation money.
- The lack of a safe working environment could result in:
- Personal loss and suffering from employees
- Huge momentary losses through production because of time off work and material damage
- Difficulty recruiting new labour because of dirty or potentially dangerous conditions
- Implementation of the legislation may provide opportunities for:
- Fewer accidents, therefore keeping employees safe and reducing momentary losses
- Workers to appoint a representative who will take concerns about health and safety to the company management
- A happier workforce who will then work more efficiently
- What is health and safety?
