In SEA, urban areas are growing due to migration and Carlisle is a built up area which increases surface runoff as there are more impermeable surfaces

The drains and sewage systems overflowed in some areas which caused 25% of the flooding problems

Deforestation in Nepal and the Himalayas means less rain was intercepted/transpired,peak discharge for the rivers coincided and monsoon rains cam suddenly after a very dry, early summer

Earth dams in Madhya Pradesh, India collapsed, reducing the river capacity

Saudi Arabia pledged Bangladesh $50 million and 5 planes worth of supplies

Life boats and rescue helicopters (donated in SEA) were sent out to help people who were stranded
