Atherosclerosis
-Fatty accumulation of substances, mainly of cholesterol, fibrous material and calcium salts, forming an atheroma beneath the endothelium
-The Atheroma grows and makes the artery grow and lose its elascity
-The lumen of the artery becomes narrrowed and restricts blood flow- increasing blood pressure

-If an atheroma ruptures, the damage to the endothelium of the artery causes the release of clotting factors
