THE ROLE OF THE PRIEST IN THE LOCAL PARISH

A priest must:

• Lead daily mass and special occasion liturgies. the preist must celebrate the bread and wine, the laity cannot do this.
• teach the people of the parish about the faith, through his sermons and through other educational groups.
• Administer the sacramnets of baptism, marriage, reconciliation and healing, ensuring that people fully understand them.
