Role of Education - Feminism

Feminists only see education as a way of maintaing gender inequality. There are many examples how schools do this:

• During the 60s and 70s, gender stereotyping was high with separeate books for boys and girls. It was no surprise that girls read about preparing tea and looking after younger siblings, whereas boys learnt about car maintenance and heavy gardening!
• Also in these textbooks there were gendered language. Even today (but not as much!!), for general purposes textbooks refer people or a person as 'he', 'him', 'his', 'men' or 'man'.
