Protein
- 17% of the body is made of protein
- Made up of several molecules- carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen
- They're arranged into units known as amino acids
- These are joined together by peptide links
- Essential constituent of all cells: hair, nails, organs and blood cells
- Excess protein consumed is converted into energy
- The body cant store protein therefore if it isn't burnt off it will turn into fat
