  • 17% of the body is made of protein

  • They're arranged into units known as amino acids
  • These are joined together by peptide links
  • Essential constituent of all cells: hair, nails, organs and blood cells
  • Excess protein consumed is converted into energy
  • The body cant store protein therefore if it isn't burnt off it will turn into fat
