Nazi Domestic Policies 1933-39
IN WHAT WAYS DID THE NAZIS CONTROL YOUNG PEOPLE?
Hitler knew it was important to encourage young people to follow him or his work would fade with his generation.
Education
Teachers
Teachers had to swear an oath of loyalty to Hitler and join the Nazi Teachers’ League. They had to promote Nazi ideals in school.
Curriculum
Hitler changed the topics to suit what he wanted for Nazi children- to have healthy, fit futures in either the military or the home. Boys would learn useful military skills while girls took needlework or cooking lessons. Race studies was introduced in which children were taught to measure their skulls and classify different race types.
