General AO1:

Behaviour that indicates attachment (Maccaby - 1980)

• Seeking Proximity
• Distress on Seperation
• Joy on reunion
• General orientation towards people

Attachment = measured in 2 ways

• Seperation Anxiety
• Stranger Anxiety

Role of father:

• Father = less likely to be primary, more likely to be secondary attachement
• (First sole attachment = 3%, joint first attachment = 27%)

Stages of Attachment:
