BOWLBY'S EVOLUTIONARY/MONOTROPIC THEORY OF ATTACHMENT
General AO1: All behaviour is recipricol and innate- not learnt
John Bowlby (1969)- suggested children deprived of attachment may suffer long-term effects
Hierarchy of attachments (created from multiple attachments)
Imprinting (innate readiness - attachment)
- ASCMI (AO1)
Adaptive/innate - Bowlby believes children = innate drive to be attached ∵ has long term benefits. (Similar to imprinting). Ensures infants proximity to caregiver for food + protection = adaptive ∵ increase chances of survival.
