cardio means to do with the heart

vascular means to do with blood vessels

3 functions of the cardiovascular system:

transportation of o2 co2 + nutrients

blood clotting + fighting disease

control of body's temp

when exercising more oxygen is consumed and more energy can be created

vital capacity is measured using spirometer

breathing rate increases so more oxygen is need to supply muscles the the tidal volume increases

the larger your lung capacity the more oxygen consumed

during exercise:

breathing deepens + gets quicker

heart rate + circulation increases

vasodilation prevents blood pressure too high

vascular shunting directs blood to working muscles
