Aims, hypotheses and variables

• Aim- to attempt or intend to reach a certain goal
• Experimental hypothesis- a hypothesis used only in experiments which predicts a difference and has both an IV and DV
• Research hypothesis- a hypothesis that predicts a difference in the measured variable or correlation between variables
• A one tailed hypothesis is a directional hypothesis, suggests the results
• A two tailed hypothesis is a non-directional hypothesis, results are not suggested
• Null hypothesis- predicts no difference in a variable or no correlation between variables
