Aims, hypotheses and variables
- Aim- to attempt or intend to reach a certain goal
- Experimental hypothesis- a hypothesis used only in experiments which predicts a difference and has both an IV and DV
- Research hypothesis- a hypothesis that predicts a difference in the measured variable or correlation between variables
- A one tailed hypothesis is a directional hypothesis, suggests the results
- A two tailed hypothesis is a non-directional hypothesis, results are not suggested
- Null hypothesis- predicts no difference in a variable or no correlation between variables
- Independent variable- a variable that is manipulated in an experiment
