  • Socialisation- process by which we learn the behaviours, values and attitudes considered appropriate in the culture and society in which we live
  • Gain sense of identity and learn the roles we need to fulfil within our community.Carrying out these roles, we can build up a self image of out proper place in society
  • Primary socialisation- learning attitudes, values and actions appropriate to individuals as members of a particular culture
  • Early years of childhood in the family
  • Occurs when appropriate behaviour is learned as a member of a smaller group (sub-culture) within the larger society
  • Friends and peers
