Drilling Jig

A simple drilling jig would be made of MDF or mild steel to drill a number of identical holes but in industry drilling holes in the hundreds, a jig with hardened steel inserts might be used.

Advantages:

• increased accuracy
• quicker production
• cost reduction

Moulds

• resistant to low level heat
• provide the required level of surfaace finish
• complicated shapes can be formed
• can be used repeatedly is made out of a robust material

templates

• if made out of the correct material, they can last a long time
• accurate shape each time
• saves time from having to repeatedly draw out and measue out the same shape multiple times.
