Manchester and Stratford

Manchester inner city (Collyhurst):

Many demolishened or abondoned buildings, 47% of children living in households earning less than 60% of national avargae income. 23% of people without qualifications, 25% mor unemployment than national avarage.

Stratford (olympics):

Olympic village provided 2818 new affordable homes, five new naighbourhods,a much needed new primary, secondary and college school. New parkland and green space, two new train lines and Javelin train.                

However, 1/3 of poorest of pop may not be able to afford new homes, and unemployment rose by 2% during olympic construction in area.

Swansea:

Governemnt wanted university student application, from 3000-18,000. Students not in uni housing congregate.

Increase in HMO's (urrently 2000), litter, crowded streets, traffic, vandalism, take-aways, bars, clubs and landlords prosper.

Lack of family restaurants, safe areas and noise force them out and away.

Young people do provide a second albour force, especially for part time work and charity.
