Electrical Systems

Electrical systems contain 3 blocks.

INPUT --> PROCESS --> OUTPUT

Between each block there is a signal. Each block changes the signal in some way.

- Input devices: switches, LDRs, thermistors.

- Process devices: timer, amplifiers, pulse generators.

- Output devices: bulbs, motors, buzzers.

Conductors are used to connect up the components in an electrical circuit because they allow electricity to flow through them. They have a low resistance. Copper is a good conductor.

Insulators often surround conductors so people don't get electric shocks or so the circuit doesn't short circuit. They don't allow electricity to flow through them and have a hogh resistance. PVC is a good conductor.

Resistors are used to reduce the current in a circuit to protect delicate components from damage
