- Dhaka is growing Birmingham is declining
- different employment types; Dhaka is mainly informal and secondary employment and low paid where as Birmingham is mostly tertiary employment
- Birmingham suffers relative poverty where as Dhaka suffers absolute poverty
- better quality services in Birmingham than in Dhaka which as poor sanitation, slum housing and poor education facilities
- Dhaka's growth is lead by rural to urban migration and natural increase where as Birmingham's growth is due to reimaging and regeneration
- Dhaka has less funding or services than Birmingham
