Advantages

  • specific to company's needs
  • work not interrupted by staff attending training courses
  • may be cheaper - doesn't need to be paid for
  • employees feel more at ease

Disadvantages

  • quality of training may not be as good
  • may pick up bad habits from other workers
  • concentration may be poor due to work interruptions

Evaluation

undertaken in place of work. businesses carry out several diff. types of on-the-job training; coaching, role play, job rotation, shadowing + demonstration
