- Balkans Wars:
- Why did men join up and conditions at war.

- small professional army
- recruit quickly
- recruitment drive: posters, leaflets, offices and speeches

- France: Germany's land, want them to become weak.
- America: want nothing to do with European conflicts, want an end to colonies.
