7 Main Nutrients
Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats, Fibre, Vitamins, Minerals & Water

1. Carbohydrates
Main source of energy. Complex - rice and pasta. Simple - cakes and sweets. Its stored in your liver and muscles as Glycogen.

2. Protein
Helps repairs damaged muscles and tissues. Found in meat.

3. Fats
Works with Glycogen to make energy. Found in butter.
4 of 7
4. Fibre
Adds bulk to the food. Soluble - fruit & vegetables and reduces blood cholesterol. Insoluble - whole grain cereals and bread which prevents constipation.

5. Vitamins
Vitamin C - Helps fight immune system and found in citrus fruit [oranges]. Vitamin D - Helps to absorb calcium and Sun provides. Lack of Vitamin D can cause Rickets.

6. Minerals
Helps the body function properly. Iron - helps oxygen go round the body by Haemoglobin. Found in green leaves e.g. spinach
