Take the food sample and add distilled water using a mortar and pestle as you want to make a paste.

Transfer?

Transfer the paste to the beaker adding more distilled water and so the chemicals dissolve

Filter

Filter solution to remove food particles.

Place?

Place 2cm3 of food solution into a test tube and add a few drops of iodine which is orange.

Condition?

If starch is present then the iodine will turn blue-black.
