BIOLOGY SUMMARY A.S 1.5 - OBJECTIVES 1-8

1. State the functions of living things. (MRS C GREN)

Movement (Skeletal Muscular System) - muscles and bones work together to enable locomotion in order to get food

Respiration (Respiratory System) - supply the blood with oxygen in order for the blood to deliver oxygen to all parts of the body

Sensitivity (Nervous System) - send signals from one cell to others enabling the sense of touch, taste etc.

Growth (Endocrine System) - utilizes hormones and glands to regulate mood, aid growth and development, and repair

Circulation (Circulatory System) - carry oxygen from lungs and aiding the exchange of gasses

Reproduction (Reproductive System) - ensure survival of species, male gamete fuses with egg to produce offspring

Excretion (Excretory System) - removes waste products from the body

Nutrition (Digestive System) - turning food into energy and packaging the residue of what you eat for excretion

 2. Identify basic human organs: brain, liver, heart, stomach, intestines, kidneys, bladder, lungs, pancreas, small intestines, gall bladder, rectum, anus
