Transnational Talk- interchange between two people has a purpose e.g. convo with shopkeeper

Referential Talk- reference to a particular subject, gives information like teacher and a student.
Interactional Talk- general social talk between two people

Expressive Talk- someone is communicating feelings,ideas and emotions.
Adjacency Pairs- question/answer or a greeting

Back Channeling- non verbal to show attention/agreement ( mm,yeah,ok)
Deictic expressions- refers listener backwards/forwards ( this,that)

Discourse markers- shift in topic of conversation ( ok,right,so)
Discourse Pragmatic Markers- support argument but no added information ( you know, well)

Ellipsis- used to avoid repetition ...
False start/repairs- start to speak then pause. A repair when you correct a previously stated phrase or sentence

Fillers- non verbal sound that gives a pause either naturally or for thinking time
Hedging- avoid being direct

Non fluency features- non verbal occurrences ( pauses, hesitation)
prosodics- tone of voice, volume, pitch etc. which affect how message is received
