What are the three sources of employment data?

What do ONS and DCMS stand for?
Office for National Statistics
and
Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

What is direct employment?
Jobs created by and are within the tourism industry, such as Flight Attendants and Travel Agents.

What is indirect employment?
Jobs that supply and support the travel and tourism industry, such as builders and suppliers.

They don't meet tourists but deal with the people that do.

What are full time/part time jobs?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Full time jobs are standard contract jobs where the employee works for a certain amount of hours.
Part time jobs are similar but work less hours, usually more flexible.

Full time staff are likely to be loyal and well trained, whilst part time staff are

What are fixed-term/temporary jobs?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Where an employee works during a certain period or event, such as festivals and seasonal jobs.

Good for when the employee needs some money in a short amount of time. Length of time is very clear. Employers only have to pay employees when they're needed.

What are zero hour contracts?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?
No guarantee of work but can be called in if needed.

Good for employers to know they have people if needed. Employee doesn't have to work.

The employee will only get paid when used which means they may not be paid at all.

Management?
Someone that oversees a whole business or service and makes sure everything runs smoothly.

Examples - Hotel Manager, Airport Manager

Supervisory?
Someone that oversees a specific part of a business or service, such as pursers and housekeepers.

Operative?
Someone that carries out the tasks in a business. Flight attendants, cleaners etc.
