Name Three Plant Tissues and the Functions
Epidermal Tissue - It covers the surfaces and protects them
Palisade Mesophyll Tissue - contains lots of chloroplasts, which carry out photosynthesis.
Spongy Mesophyll Tissue - contains some chloroplasts for photosynthesis, but also has big air spaces and
1 of 6
Define Plant Tissue
Plant tissues are collections of cells specialized to carry out specific functions
2 of 6
What are the functions of the Xylem and Phloem Cell? Also, state which one is dead and which one is alive.
Xylem cells are dead. They can carry water and dissolved mineral ions from the roots up to the leaves.

Phloem are alive. They can carry foods from the leaves around the plant.
3 of 6
What is Translocation?
The movement of dissolved sugars from the leaves to the rest of the plant is called TRANSLOCATION.
4 of 6
What is Transpiration?
The loss of water vapour from the surface of the plant leaves.
5 of 6
What happens to the stomata when the water is lost and how does this affect photosynthesis(does it increase the rate or decrease the rate)?
The stomata becomes open and that lets in carbon dioxide for photosynthesis which increases the rate of photosynthesis.
