Clues

  • an action is justified because it has always been the "tradition" to do it is this way (6, 2, 9)
  • the claim is that the conclusion must be true because either an expert or someone with an important job says so (6, 2, 9)
  • where emotion rather than rational argument is used e.g. an "Appeal to pity" where the writer tries to support their conclusion by asking for sympathy (6, 2, 7)
  • where something which happened in the past is used to predict the future (6, 2, 7)
  • where the weight is used to support a conclusion (6, 2, 10)
