AIMS

> To test the hypothesis that high arousal can reduce the ability to recall events and identify a perpetrator. Testing the relationship between stress and recall.

PROCEDURE

> Those who visited the London Dungeons were offered a reduction in the admission price. They were asked to complete a questionnaire after their visit, as well as to wear a heart rate monitor throughout > field experiment, and a scary one for people who enjoy it.

> 56 participants were used and completed the questionnaires. This sample included 29 females and 27 males.

> An actor dressed up in a dark robe, and wore make up in order to appear pale. They also had wounds and scars on their face. This was to create a 'scary' person. The job of the actor was to step out infront of the participants and prevent them from passing by blocking their way. All participants went through the dungeon in the same direction.

> Once the tour was completed, participants were debriefed about the experiment and informed consent was obtained. Participants were also given the right to withdraw at any stage.
