Revolutionary defeats:

  • the pope returned to Rome on the afternoon of the 12th April 1850, he was cheered by the same people who had cheered for Mazzini, Garibaldi and the Roman Republic just a year earlier
  • the Pope also brought with him the return of repression, Inquisition and the guillotine as well as others

Failure elsewhere:
