Cardiovascular System
Consists of the heart, blood, and blood vessels.
Blood being pushed around the body has two main functions:
- to supply the body with oxygen and nutrients
- to remove waste products such as carbon dioxide.
Cardiovascular fitness is the ability to exercise the entire body for a long period of time. To do this you need a strong heart, clear blood vessel (arteries and veins) to supply the muscles with plenty of oxygen via the blood.
Immediate effects of exercise on the cardiovascular system
- increased heart rate.
- Heart rate (HR) is the number of times the heart beats per minute. HR varies a lot from person to person which is why it's so difficult to say what a 'normal' heart rate is. However a 'normal' resting HR is accepted to be beween 60-80bpm…
