Non-Specific Immunity
The study of how the body indentifies and protects itself from micro-organisms that cause disease is called IMMUNOLOGY.
There are three lines of defence against pathogens:
- General Response to prevent entry
- Non-Specific Response
- Specific Responce
General Response:
- Skin - kerratin layer - forms impenetrable barrier against bacteria
- Skin Flora - mutualistic relationship between us and these bacteria
- Blood clots - prevents entry of pathogens through cuts
