Top-Down Development:

These are developmental decisions made by governments or private companies. These are large scale, high tech and expensive projects. People gain by a process of 'trickle - down' e,g, money trickles down to the poor as a result of this investment

Bottom-Up Development:

Experts work with local communities to identify their needs. This gives local people control in improving their lives. These are small scale, low cost and low tech projects.
