Food and nutrition
- Dancers use more energy than the average person and therefore need extra calories to keep a nutritional balance within the body. They should be in the form of CARBOHYDRATE - most efficient type of food for muscle activity
carbohydrates are stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles, if these stores are low within rehearsals it can cause the dancer to become tired and blood sugar levels drop. They could then feel weak - irritable and have headaches. This certain food group should be up to 33% of our diet
- Find carbohydrates in cereals - root vegetables - pasta - potatoes - fruit
fats are not as efficient as a source of energy, not good to eat too much. Should be about 9% of daily food intake.
- dairy products - oily fish - nuts - eggs
