Primary Industries:

FARMING:

There are many farms in Nyanza and the Western Provinces that produce coffee, tea, tobacco and fruits. They are produced here because the areas receive enough rainfall to grow crops.

Livestock are reared on farms in North Eastern Provinces (such as cattle and camels.) This is because the climate is suitable for grazing but not crops are there are smaller amounts of rainfall.

MINING:

There is a large mine in Magadi which extracts trona (a mineral used to make glass.) It is done here because there is Lake Magadi, southwest of Nairobi, and the mineral can form at the edges where water evaporates.

Secondary Industries:

MANUFACTURING:

There are many factories in Nairobi that produce textiles, foods and drinks.
