Poor parenting (Privation)

1) They compared a group of 50 women who had been reared in institutions with a control group of 50 women reared at home.

2) When the women were in their 20s, it was found the ex-institutional women were experiencing extreme difficulties acting as parents. More ex-institutional women had children that had spent time in care. 

3) The sample is very small in relation to the size of the population so it will not be representative of the whole population. It is good because the researchers are not going against any of the ethical guidelines.
