Mass tourism is when large numbers of people are visiting the same area.

The factors that increase mass tourism include;

• subtle advertisements in books and films
• cheap flights
• package holidays
• general advertisement of areas with attractive features
• word of mouth

Mass tourism can be seen along beaches in the Mediterranean, and other beaches with all-year-round sunshine and clean, healthy water and sand.

Resorts in Spain, Italy and Greece are easier to reach through the cheap flights, and so people are visiting those resorts in mass numbers as well.
