Abstract: signals a story is about to begin, gets the listener's attention, might ask
permission to tell a story, gives some indication of what the story is about
Orientation: puts a story into context, gives the time, place, persons involved and
situation/activity of the story.
Complicating action: the main narrative body providing information about what
Resolution: the final events
Evaluation: makes the point of the story clear, suggesting why it's worth being told
and why it's of interest.
The evaluation can occur at any point of this sequence. Also some aspects of this
sequence may be missed out in reality and some aspects may be used at the same
