Unlike Spreadsheets they cannot perform calculations. A
Database's use can be
defined by the 3 S's : Store, Sort and Search
Store
Databases allow us to store large amounts of data
Sort
Databases allow us to sort data e.g. alphabetically
by surname, numerically by customer number
Search
Databases allow us to find information quickly and
easily using certain search criteria e.g.
a particular customers details
all sales made January
all stock that has not been sold
