For and against embryonic stem cells for research.

Advantages

  • Embryos provide the most useful cells as they are unspecified
  • Embryos which cells are taken from are grown in labs which means they are only a few days old.
  • Stem cells may be able to treat a vast amount of diseases and conditions in the future.
  • Can repair damaged tissues.

Disadvantages

  • Morally wrong
  • Could pass on disease as they are cultivated in nutrients from animal sources.
  • Cells may turn cancerous

Evaluation

Overall, I think embryonic stem cell research is a good thing because it could be a cure for many life taking disease. Yes there is some serious risks but there's risk with everything and the uses of stem cells is so important that I think these risks are worth taking.
