The laboratory experiment with controlled variables allowed only for the investigation of the affect age has on EWT. Consequently researchers could confidently conclude that age does influence the accuracy of EWT. The study is criticised in terms of ecological validity. The event witnessed did not have any emotional impact so it is difficult to conclude that a young child's memory of a witnessed event would be poor.
