- Margaret of ANJOU assumed a more ACTIVE ROLE in politics
- She worked CLOSELY with SOMERSET hoping to EXCLUDE YORK from power
- She did this by setting herself as REGENT until such time her husband RECOVERED

- This is because they FEUDED with the Percy Earl of Northumberland, who supported the King
- Also they were DISSATISFIED with the events
- YORK was made MORE POWERFUL by the NEVILLES
- As a result, MARGARET could NOT PREVENT YORK from ASSUMING POWERS & AUTHORITY of PROTECTOR & DEFENDER of the REAL in March 1454
