    • EQUALITY
      • This is the idea that people are essentially of EQUAL WORTH & entitled to EQUAL RIGHTS
        • Thus, there should be NO UNJUSTIFIED PRIVILEGES or INEQUALITY in society.
          • E.g. They would this through
            • REMOVING ARTIFICIAL PRIVILEGES
            • TAXATION & WELFARE BENEFITS used to REDUCE differences in REAL INCOMES
            • Wealth should NOT give anyone UNJUSTIFIED ACCESS to power
    • COLLECTIVISM & UNIVERSALISM
      • The idea that goals can be achieved COLLECTIVELY rather than individually
        • HUMANKIND is a SOCIAL ANIMAL balancing OWN INTERESTS & WIDER COMMUNITY INTERESTS
          • This DISTRIBUTES wealth more EQUALLY & UNIVERSALLY
            • E.g. This is done through
              • WELFARE STATE: healthcare, education, housing, social insurance, pensions & social care
                • PAID for by TAXATION
              • LOCAL GOVT SERVICES are VITAL aspect of collectivism
              • PROTECTION of WORKERS through TRADE UNIONS, rather than laws
    • CONTROL of CAPITALISM
      • This is the idea that CAPITALISM can be tolerated ONLY through EXPLOITATION of workers & CONSUMERS can be CONTROLLED
        • However, it could help PRIVATE ENTERPRISES serving the interests of the WIDER COMMUNITY.
          • E.g. Capitalism can be CONTROLLED through
            • NATIONALISATION of key industries (energy, infrastructure & utilities)
            • STRONG TRADE UNIONS to protect workers
            • CONTROL MONOPOLY MONEY
    • SOCIAL JUSTICE
      • This is the belief that all in society should have EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES & ACCESS to a decent LIVING STANDARDS
        • People should be able to IMPROVE their own circumstances for their own merit.
          • E.g. This is done through
            • PROVIDE EDUCATION & WELFARE BENEFITS
            • WELFARE STATE to guarantee living standards
            • STRONG LONGS on EQUAL RIGHTS & OUTLAW discrimination
    • CLASS & SOCIETY
      • There is a FUNDAMENTAL DIVISION in society between CLASSE
        • Traditional Labour believes this needs to be RECONCILED through
          • PROGRESSIVE TAXATION & WELFARE PROVISIONS
          • STRONG TRADE UNIONS
          • FIRM CONTROL on ECONOMY to control unemployment
          • NATIONALISATION
