      • when used in the context of sport the noun 'girl' can have negative connotations
        • 'throw like a girl' is a common simile used to mock someone who cannot throw.
          • it plays on stereotypes that girls cant do sports
          • perhaps the campaign name 'this girl can' is a response to this sexist phrase

      • in addition, the brand name use the noun 'girl' as an all inclusive term
        • this term makes older women feel younger
      • 'girl' is usually associated with younger females
        • arguably this could make older female audience members feel left out

      • isnt really a represenatations of ethincity in this particular text
        • although the campaign is aimed at women of all sorts of races
