- The March Revolution
- 4th March 1917- workers went on strike in Petrograd demanding for higher wages
- after 3 days there were 40,000 workers on strike
- clashes between workers + army, some strikers were killed
- Winter in 1916-17 was harsh
- food didn't reach towns - snow and ice on railways
- people died of starvation
- 8th March- thousands of women went onto street demanding for bread
- 12th March in Petrograd
- Soldiers refused to fire at strikers and joined them instead
- Duma agreed to set up Provisional government (temporary)
- On 15th March- Tsar was forced to abdicate. He and his family were arrested and taken to a Siberian prison camp
